Sizing and Washing Info

Sizing:

Small diapers... newborn to 15 pounds.

Medium diapers... 15-25 lbs

Large diapers... 20-35+ lbs.

These sizes are approximate. If you have questions on sizing, please write and ask.

Sizing can be tricky because babies come in all different shapes and two babies may weigh the same amount and look totally different. As a general rule, with Aplix diapers, if you`re unsure order up and have a crossover tab put on.

Snap diapers are not as adjustable as Aplix ones and the sizing is different because of that. If you order up with a snap diaper it probably will not fit. Babies who are at the lower end of the weight range should probably size down.

Washing instructions:

Easy! Use a dry pail, not a wet one, to store dirty diapers. Run a cold rinse prior to washing. Wash on hot using 1/2 the amount of detergent you normally would. Dry on medium/hot. Never use bleach or fabric softeners on these or any cloth diapers--it will ruin them. I prefer a scent- and dye-free detergent as there is less buildup. Sensi-Clean® detergent is one type that will help your diapers to stay free of buildup that other detergents can leave behind. (Check for it in our "accessories" section.) This is my favorite detergent, although I should say that some babies' skin can be very sensitive so you may need to troubleshoot until you find a detergent that works for you.

Do not overload your washer when doing cloth diapers as good agitation is essential to getting them clean.

Wool should be hand washed with baby shampoo or a wool wash such as Kookaburra or Eucalan every 1 to 2 weeks, or when soiled. Always air dry, never dry in dryer. Hang to dry between changings. Once a month it will need to be lanolized by doing the following: Wash as above. Mix a pea size portion of lansinoh or other 100% lanolin with a squirt of baby shampoo or wool wash, and 2 c. very warm water. Shake to emulsify the lanolin. Soak wool in this mixture for half an hour. Do not rinse. Squeeze most of water out and hang to dry.
